We’re delivering an integrated package of works, starting with the soft strip and asbestos removal works. As the former ITV studios begins its transformative journey into a multi-use community and commercial hub.

PROJECT OVERVIEW.

Our scope for the initial phase of works included soft stripping the entire building, including all finishes and mechanical and electrical services, both horizontal and vertical. We stripped approximately 11,000m2 of material, including lifts and a roof plant, leaving just the building's shell following extensive hazardous waste investigation and removal.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS AND KEY STATS.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS.

Collaborating with Contractors
Time was key for the client, so we collaborated with the ongoing contractors to optimise and synchronise our programmes. We devised concurrent sequencing with other contractors to ensure we delivered the programme betterment.

Working with Neighbours in Mind
Community Management was paramount due to the proximity of local residents and the high foot traffic in the neighbouring cultural hub of Southbank.

All works had to be carefully monitored to ensure the site did not exceed the strict noise and vibration limitations in the area.

Removing Eight Football Pitches of Asbestos
The undertaking was huge; our Environmental Services moved floor-by-floor over the 18 stories and three extra studios to remove 600 tonnes of asbestos.

The works were completed using bespoke scaffolding and specifically-designed multi-level and faceted enclosures which required intricate and large-scale planning. All works were carried out under fully controlled conditions.
