CARRINGTONSTREET.
TRANSFORMING MAYFAIR’S OLDEST CAR PARK INTO A MODERN, MIXED-USE SCHEME.
CLIENT: MOTCOMB ESTATE
STATUS: COMPLETE
LOCATION: MAYFAIR
Redevelopment of Mayfair’s oldest car park, Carrington Street NCP. The development is a landmark mixed-use scheme made up of 30 super-prime residential units and prime amenities.
Carrington Street Car Park, a historic site in Mayfair, London, initially constructed in 1907, required extensive asbestos removal across three floors, including all high-level ceiling soffits, structural steelwork, columns and wall space throughout.
The project was notable for its complexity, given the car park’s open-plan structure, the strict environmental and noise regulations in Westminster, and the need for careful coordination with other trades working concurrently in the same area (Hard Demolition).
Controlled Asbestos Removal
Successfully executed using BS8520 controlled wet strip removal methods and abrasive wet blasting techniques (quilling), ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Effective Planning and Sequencing
Managed the intricate sequencing of demolition, civils, and other trade works in close proximity, ensuring smooth project progression.
Environmental Management
Maintained air movement and negative pressure within enclosures to handle the abrasive wet blasting in an open-plan car park, while constructing enclosures to withstand environmental pressures.
Logistics and Noise Control
Achieved minimal disturbance to the surrounding residential area by coordinating waste removal and deliveries out of hours, adhering to traffic restraints, and implementing strict noise control measures during permitted work hours.
