Main Focus of Role

 

Develop, lead and execute the strategy for Learning and Development across the business, to drive and enhance company performance and employee engagement in line with overall group strategy.

 

Leading and managing a team to facilitate and deliver learning, development and training initiatives/solutions from trainee through to senior level management.

 

These initiatives could include but are not restricted to

  • School Leaver/Apprenticeship Recruitment and Development programme
  • Graduate and sponsored students recruitment and development programme
  • Career development programmes
  • Management and Leadership Development
  • Mandatory safety critical/compliance led training
  • Support programmes for Professional Qualifications and development
  • Performance Management
  • High Potential Talent Development
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Online training
  • Behavioural training

About You

 

  • A learning and development professional, ideally with relevant experience in the construction and civil engineering sector or related sectors.
  • Able to demonstrate an excellent track record, performing a similar role, developing and executing an L&D strategy and leading and delivering a varied programme of initiatives.
  • You will be managing a small team of advisors, however this is a “hands on” leadership role leading from the front.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to develop strong relationships – partnering closely with the business to identify and deliver requirements.
  • Confident and engaging with high energy.
  • Able to provide commercially focussed and pragmatic solutions to L&D across the group.
  • Excellent people management skills, inspirational manager that can get the best out of individuals and teams.
  • Structured and organised, can deliver performance and outcomes.
  • Ambitious to progress, grow and develop the role within an expanding business.

Qualifications required

 

Degree qualified

 

CIPD qualification in Learning and Development or equivalent

 

Team dynamic and behavioural tools (preferred)

Main Focus of Role

As the sole in house lawyer for the group you will be a valued advisor to the board and the wider business, helping them to make balanced decisions.

 

This will include providing advice throughout the construction process including:

  • Preconstruction and contract award
  • Project delivery
  • Dispute management

Providing legal advice on all contractual matters relating to projects, to ensure that the group is protected, and to bring commercial acumen in the finalising of the most advantageous contract terms.

 

Liaising with project teams to ensure they are managing the risk and opportunity balance from a contract and legal perspective.

 

Additional responsibilities will also include input on business compliance issues

 

About You

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 5 years PQE in the construction sector, either in house or private practice, with a good understanding of current forms of contract
  • Excellent personal communication skills (including an ability to explain legal concepts in plain English to non-lawyers).
  • An ability to contextualise legal issues within a business environment. Balance business objectives with legal risk.
  • Able to provide commercially focussed and pragmatic solutions to complex legal and contractual issues.
  • Ambitious to progress, grow and develop the role within an expanding business.

We support level 2/3 apprenticeships over 18-24 months, as well as degree level higher apprenticeships up to 5 years in duration – this is dependent on vacancies available at the time of your application.

 

You will receive on-the-job training, guidance, and experience, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

 

There are no formal entry requirements for level 2 or 3, although GCSE’s in Maths and English are beneficial. Entry requirements for higher apprenticeships vary.
