McGee has won Gold in the 2017 Green World Awards for Wastes Management in the international campaign to find the world’s greenest countries, companies, and communities.
McGee competed against more than 500 other nominees in the Green World Awards for Environmental Best Practice and was presented with a trophy and certificate at a glittering ceremony held in Dubai on 11th December 2017.
Around 200 guests attended the Awards with winners travelling from all around the world to be honoured for their environmental achievements. Trees will be planted to offset the carbon footprint created by their journeys.
Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were presented in every category, and the full list of winners is available HERE.
To participate in the Green World Awards 2017, McGee took part in the 2016 Green Apple Awards receiving a Silver Award in the Environmental Best Practice category. This earned McGee an opportunity to be a Green World Ambassador as well as have their winning paper published in volume 22 of The Green Book – the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice; so that others around the world can follow examples of award winning work.
The Awards are organised by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
The Green World Awards were launched as the top tier of the Green Apple Awards – enabling companies and organisations to win environmental recognition not only for themselves, but also for their countries.
McGee’s Head of Social Responsibility, Marc Byrne, said:
”Receiving a Gold Award at the Green World Awards amongst distinguished companies and worthy peers is an absolute honour and has completed a year of unprecedented success for our Environmental team. Awards like these reiterate our commitment towards achieving not only Environmental & Sustainable best practice on all our sites, but to be bold and innovative in our approach. We look forward to again setting ourselves new and challenging sustainable objectives in 2018 and further raising the bar of our environmental performance.”
