McGee continues support for Exchanging Places

McGee recently partnered with Sir Robert McAlpine, Flo, Tideway, Multiplex, Mace, Havebike and the Metropolitan Police Cycle Task Force to help deliver an ‘Exchanging Places’ event – part of the Met’s road safety programme.

‘Exchanging Places’ addresses the most common cause of serious injury and death to cyclists – collisions involving HGVs. By putting people in the driver’s seat of a HGV they get a better understanding of what the driver can and cannot see, especially in regards to cyclists, pedestrians and vulnerable road users on the nearside and directly in front of the vehicle.

McGee is pleased to continue to support Exchanging Places sessions which are ongoing, both with the use of new virtual reality technology. It’s all part of their calendar of events that sees McGee actively contributing to the communities within which they work, engaging with local people and businesses, as well as the industry as a whole.

Andy Weston, Tipper Driver, said:

“From a driver’s point of view, I think Exchanging Places is a great way of presenting road safety tips to members of the public as it allows them to experience first-hand what I can and cannot see when driving. These events are incredibly worthwhile, for which I am pleased to continue to support.”

John McGee, McGee Director, said

“We have been involved in many Exchanging Places events over the years and they never fail to engage the general public in what McGee believes is an extremely important topic. It is great that we have partnered up with so many great businesses and are extremely pleased to continue to support the Met Police with their ongoing road safety programme.”
