Helping to breathe new life into Hanover Square

Situated within the Mayfair Conservation Area, a complex demolition is taking place on the 1970’s 6-storey commercial building located at 7-10 Hanover Square.

Working on behalf of Aelton Ltd, c/o Morgan Capital Partners, McGee started work on site in May 2014 with the works expected to conclude on site in December 2014; in readiness for the construction phase which will see the new development delivered to the market in 2017.

The building is situated on a corner plot between Hanover Square and Princes Street and has apartments located either side of the site.  Due to the site being located in a busy area with heavy pedestrian footfall around its perimeter, from being in close proximity to the Oxford Street/Regent Street retail centre, the demolition methodology chosen is a ‘top down solution’ to minimise any effect on pedestrians and neighbours.

McGee has been employed to undertake a comprehensive scope of works, which not only includes the ultimate demolition of the existing building, but also: soft strip, party wall shoring, de-planting, excavation works, asbestos survey and removal, pile enabling, retaining wall support, sheet piling and earth retention.

This major redevelopment will ultimately breathe new life into Hanover Square once again as it is set to become one of Mayfair’s most sought after squares, following the completion of the Crossrail station directly opposite.
