Shortlisted for CCS National Site Award

McGee has been shortlisted in the 2016 Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards for the outstanding site standards during the demolition of One Nine Elms, Vauxhall, London in 2014/15.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Site Awards recognise those sites registered with the Scheme that have raised the bar for considerate construction.

Since 1999, the Scheme has been rewarding the UK’s most considerate sites for the contribution they have made towards improving the image of construction. The Scheme looks at the measures a site has put in place to be more considerate towards local neighbourhoods and the public, the workforce, and the environment.

Acting as Principal Contractor for client, Dalian Wanda, McGee carried out the floor-by-floor demolition of the existing Market Towers buildings (pictured above) during 2014/15.

Project Manager, Chris Foulser, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for a Considerate Constructors National Award.  It is fantastic to be acknowledged for our commitment to improving the image of construction and our exceptional standards of work.

“We’ve hosted Exchanging Places events on site; salvaged and donated items for the benefit of the local community; we have supported charity through on site fundraising activities; and put innovation into action to ensure effective noise monitoring – it’s all been in a bid to go above and beyond minimum compliance.  The team has worked incredibly hard and we’re excited by the prospect to be in with a chance of gaining national site recognition.”

McGee hopes to be announced as an award winner and offered a place at one of the prestigious awards ceremonies later this year.

One Nine Elms continues to be transformed as the groundworks phase continues to make progress.

The end result will see over 50 storeys of skyscraper soar into the sky, offering residents unrivalled views of London’s most famous landmarks, including The Shard, London Eye and Westminster Abbey.  One Nine Elms will set a new standard for the city, offering luxurious private apartments alongside a world-class five-star hotel.

The £900 million landmark development, which will soon become one of Western Europe’s tallest residential projects, is due for completion in late 2018.
