McGee wins three prestigious RoSPA Awards

McGee wins Occupational Health and Safety Gold, Fleet Safety Gold and Highly Commended International Dilmun Environmental Award for commitment to construction health and safety practices.

McGee has achieved the prestigious awards in the annual presentation ceremony run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards are open to organisations of all sizes from across the wide spectrum of industries, all over the world. Judges consider entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The awards are now in its 62nd Year.

McGee was crowned the same title in both 2016 and 2017, and this year’s win completes a hat trick of successive Gold Awards with the addition of a Gold Award in Fleet Safety and Highly Commended for the International Dilmun Environmental Award. The awards were presented during a ceremony at ExCel, London on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

John Hennessy, Health and Safety Director of McGee, said:

“I am delighted McGee has received such high accolades, acknowledging the continued hard work and commitment we have to moving forward in all areas of our Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities. We constantly focus on improving safety through our ‘Step Safe’ behavioural change programme and safe systems of work.

“The RoSPA Gold Award is the product of our highly committed, passionate and dedicated workforce who not only maintain our current standards but stop at nothing to keep improving Health and Safety within our business.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events, said:

“The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years. For the first time in 2017, the Patron’s Award has been presented to those that have achieved consecutive gold awards for 25 years or more.

Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education. There are specialist awards for occupational health, environmental management and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international, new entry, workforce involvement and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA’s top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy.

Headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2018 is NEBOSH – the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – for the 13th consecutive year.
