McGee is delighted to announce they have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Technology’ Category at the Motor Transport Awards 2017. McGee has been acknowledged as a worthy contender for a 2017 Motor Transport Award alongside some of the industry’s most recognisable and highly regarded names.
The awards will be held once again at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, London; where the winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on July 5th. Dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the industry, the annual Motor Transport Awards celebrates the outstanding achievements in the road transport industry.
More than 50 independent senior figures gathered for a two day judging session, where numerous entries were subject to scrutiny before the best – including McGee – were selected for the shortlist.
McGee’s shortlisting comes as a result of employing a technology-based solution and a military style logistics plan in delivering London’s deepest hotel basement for a new 350-room hotel in the heart of London’s Leicester Square.
Whilst McGee is no stranger to delivering high profile inner-city excavations of this magnitude, they were required to handle 180,000 tonnes of earth – safely, efficiently and diligently – in one of the most congested and hard to access sites in the capital.
McGee’s multi-technology approach to delivering the excavation and the constant focus on the safety of vulnerable road users throughout the works was the main praising points for the judges.
Commenting on the awards shortlist, John McGee, Director, said:
“We are extremely proud to be shortlisted in this year’s Motor Transport Awards within the ‘Best Use of Technology’ category. We are a technology led company and we pride ourselves on creating innovative solutions to complex problems.
“To be shortlisted for this award is fantastic recognition for everyone involved in the delivery of the Leicester Square project and demonstrates our commitment to raising the bar within the construction logistics industry.
“We are looking forward to the event and eagerly await the news of the winners next week.”
