McGee has entered the Sunday Times Grant Thornton 2017 Top Track 250 league table at No.229.
Published on 1st October, the 13th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table ranks Britain’s private mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales.
McGee’s entry at 229 comes on the back of posting a strong set of financial results for the year ended 30 November 2016, with turnover of £125 million (up 24% on 2015) whilst delivering a pre-tax profit of £8.4 million (6.7%).
The 68 companies in the table, headquartered in London (compared to 62 last year) have made a strong contribution to the capital’s economy. The companies increased combined sales 16% to £17.4bn and operating profits 45% to £1.8bn, and they employ more than 120,000 people.
The companies in London appear with businesses from around the UK, including Aston Martin, Holland & Barrett, Travelodge, Lush and PureGym.
The league table and awards programme is sponsored by Grant Thornton and Lloyds Banking Group, and compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events company.
Paul Hickey, McGee Group Finance Director, said:
“Recognition in the prestigious Top Track 250 league table is one of those events which gives cause to pause and reflect on what we’ve achieved at McGee. Without hesitation, it’s the quality of our people, their expertise, drive and passion, that’s at the core of our successful growth. We’re programmed, in this business, to continually look ahead and focus on the next challenge, so it’s nice every now and then to have the mirror held up and see that we’re actually getting a lot of things right and can be very proud of our performance.”
Malcolm Gomersall, Partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, the title sponsor of the league table, praised the companies for their performance:
“The UK may be at a pivotal point in its history, but the Top Track 250 clearly demonstrates what can be achieved by exciting dynamic businesses. These companies think locally and act globally, they innovate to grow and embrace an entrepreneurial spirit that this country needs to secure a positive post-Brexit future. At Grant Thornton we are seeking to stimulate ideas and actions that can help shape a vibrant UK economy that thrives. We can all learn a lot from the Top Track 250.”
McGee looks forward to attending The Top Track 250 Awards dinner to be held on 21st November at Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, London.
