McGee and Ivor Goodsite attend school Road Safety Day

On Wednesday 11th May McGee was welcomed back to the City of London School for Girls to support the Prep School’s Road Safety Day in partnership with the Road Safety team at the City of London Corporation.  A whole host of activities saw almost 100 children learn about all of the different aspects of road safety – with a little help from McGee’s special guest, Ivor Goodsite.

Ivor Goodsite is the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s mascot who, when not on site, spends his time visiting schools and local communities to promote health and safety.

Construction site celebrity, Ivor, and the City Police, provided an ‘Exchanging Places’ experience in the playground where pupils sat in the McGee tipper truck to see the view from the driver’s perspective and learn more about HGV blind spots.

Sheila Moules, Road Safety Officer at the City of London Corporation, said: “It was a pleasure to invite McGee and Ivor Goodsite back to the City of London School for Girls again this year for their Road Safety Day.  We are delighted with the support and enthusiasm that we always receive which is always a huge help in helping us to deliver road safety in the City and encourage behaviour change.”

Emma Attwood, Marketing & Communications Manager said: “Following the success of our visit to the City of London School for Girls last year where we provided lessons in construction site safety, we were delighted to be asked to return again this year to support the Road Safety Day.

“In partnership with the City of London’s Road Safety team, the City Police and of course, Ivor Goodsite, these events are a great example of how the business community can help to play an important role in keeping young people safe.

“Despite the wet weather it did not dampen the girls’ enthusiasm for learning.  Ivor and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the girls once again and we look forward to visiting more schools in the City in the near future.”

The day concluded with each pupil receiving a McGee/City of London goody bag and a high visibility vest – presented by Ivor himself.
