McGee

BREEAM Excellent Achieved

McGee has completed the Ibis Hotel in Gloucester, the first of the newly branded chain which Accor will be establishing in the UK. The innovative design incorporates new technologies for sustainability and carbon reduction.

The hotel is situated on the main route into the city centre.  All dig material was retained on site for re-use and upon completion the building achieved BREEAM ratingExcellent; an exciting first for McGee Group.

The superstructure, in reinforced concrete, was value engineered and sequenced to reduce the slabs to 190mm, whilst maintaining the fire integrity and most importantly the Part E Building Regulations for sound.  High densities of recycled insulation were used in the external envelope improving the BREEAM assessment and reducing the running costs of the hotel over its lifecycle.
