About Us

McGee Group is a broad based construction company and multi-disciplined specialist and civils contractor. Family owned and managed for over 50 years, McGee has expanded significantly and continues to go from strength to strength.

We are able to deliver a broad spectrum of construction, demolition, decontamination and civil engineering works, by way of a main contract or as a specialist sub-contractor.

McGee is famous for demolishing the old Wembley Stadium and constructing the foundations for the new stadium. All this was delivered on time and on budget, before the construction problems associated with the project began. McGee also demolished Battersea Power Station in 1986, installing the complex temporary works structure that retains the iconic facade to this day.

In recent times, McGee has been heavily involved with Crossrail, demolishing Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street stations. Within construction, we are building a 5* Hilton Hotel in partnership with Galliford Try for Splendid Hotels and delivering multiple design & build contracts for Thornsett among numerous other ongoing contracts.

Executive Chairman

Ian became Executive Chairman of the McGee Group in 2007.

Ian’s previous experience includes The Cleveland Group of Companies, incorporating Cleveland Bridge and Dorman Long Companies Worldwide, where he was President and Chief Executive Officer. Ian was founder and Chairman of High-Point Rendel Group plc and led the development of this multi-disciplinary group of companies specialising in business, management and engineering technology consultancy, with a network of offices in Europe, Africa, Middle East, USA, Indian Sub Continent and Asia Pacific.

Ian is a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Constructors and a Freeman of the City of London. He was made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2003 for his service to business and charity.

Cannon Street Station, London

The removal of asbestos contaminated materials had to be carried out while keeping the station fully operational. The removal of the sprayed insulation to the soffit of the cab service road had to be completed while keeping the road in service throughout the works. To accomplish this, a specially designed working deck was constructed and installed.
